The Fusion Mindset2

environments

I specialise in Transmedia Design: the fusion of interdisciplinary languages, tools, & production techniques to merge identities & environments into multi-platform narratives.

Environments

I work alone or collaboratively to design digital & physical processes that create transformational conceptual environments. These environments form behavioural qualities & characteristics of identity.

Identities

Building off a strong environmental behavioural insights I creatively and technically hone these insights into narrative voices expressed through multimedia production and post production techniques. Technical production outcomes form identities (assets) that in turn feed environments and an iterative loop is created fostering ongoing symbiotic growth of both environment and identity. I call this Transmedia Permaculture.

Transmedia Permaculture

Creative and technical big-picture 'aha' goals and objectives emerge. Production loops that continue to evolve beyond their primary purposes & relationships create an abundance of conceptual spatial awareness. Vibrant & meaningful relationships between work and play inform diverse growth.

Carmen: A retrospective transmedia investigation exploring ideas of the feminine form in a state of immersion and abstraction within the changing face of technology.

the 'carmen ecosystem' emerged from two research sources. French composer Georges Bizet's carmen and the 90s computer game 'Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego'. Both of these examples the feminine is depicted as uncontrollable, elusive, passionate, dangerous and mysterious - the femme fatale archetype.

The work is a case study to centre ideas around digitization of femininity in dialogue with deconstructing objectification and stereotyping, introducing transformation of identities as environments & experiences.

Below we see Digital abstract art projection mapped onto the female physical form, photographed and videoed, later to be re-processed and expressed in an evolving transmedia narrative and published as an audiovisual album on www.heardandfelt.com

 Site Specific Designfabrication

for site specific fabrication of digital designs I focus on outcomes that maintain the integrity of core creative requirements whilst pushing the technical interplay between fabrication (identity) and site specificity (environment).

The alchemy of bridging ideas across digital and physical mediums whilst retaining focus & integrity of cultural identity is not just a question of automation & scalability,

It is a process & practice of mindfulness & care.

This is big picture thinking.

iterative audiovisual reworking in post production of original carmen photo/video shoot evolves transmedia narrative to include further published AV works, mask designs and VR exhibition

Mask designs emerge from reconstructing video footage stills

music designs are post produced with video and published with a record company

The Cy Gorman AV design collection 'Carmen' was released internationally as a mixed media release & is available for download through www.heardandfelt.com
